Privacy Policy
Effective November 2, 2026
Meal Funnel is a family recipe box and meal planner operated by Custom Digital Services, LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information Meal Funnel collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. Questions or requests: sales@custom-ds.com.
Information we collect
Your account
Your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form that can't be turned back into the original password. Each account belongs to a family, and we store the family's name.
Content you add
The recipes, ingredients, instructions, tags and photos you add, the meals you put on your meal plan, and your shopping list. This content is shared with the other members of your family in Meal Funnel.
Recipes you share
When you share a recipe by email, we store the recipient's email address, your optional note, who sent it, and when the link was first opened. The email to the recipient includes your name and your note, and replies to it go to your email address.
Family invitations
When you invite someone to your family, we store their email address, who invited them, and when the invitation expires and is accepted. The invitation email includes your name and your family's name, and replies to it go to your email address. If they accept, they create their own account and join your family.
Alexa
If you link Meal Funnel to Alexa, Amazon handles your voice and sends Meal Funnel the words of requests meant for it (for example, "add milk and eggs"), along with a key that tells us which Meal Funnel account they're for. We use those words to make the change you asked for and don't keep them separately. What Amazon does with your voice recordings is covered by Amazon's own privacy notice and your Alexa settings. You can disconnect Alexa at any time under Settings → Voice assistants.
Sign-in security information
When someone signs in to your account, or tries to with the wrong password, we email you a security alert that includes the time, the IP address and the type of browser used. Meal Funnel also keeps a record of sign-ins, failed sign-in attempts and sign-outs (the time, the account or email address tried, the IP address and the type of browser) for one year, so problems and break-in attempts can be looked into. To slow down password guessing, we briefly count recent sign-in attempts by email address and IP address.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting provider's servers automatically log requests, including IP addresses, pages requested and browser type. Meal Funnel's own error logs may record which account and page were involved when something goes wrong, so problems can be fixed.
To protect the service, Meal Funnel's firewall records requests it turns away as suspicious (the IP address, the address requested and the browser type) and keeps them for 90 days. We also keep, for 90 days, a list of the emails Meal Funnel sends (the recipient's address, the subject and whether it was delivered to the mail server, but not the message itself), and for about 13 months we note which days each account was used. For one year we also keep a record of which pages of Meal Funnel each account opens and which changes it makes (the kind of page or change, such as "added a recipe", not what you typed), with the time, IP address and type of browser, so we can look into problems and see which features are used. These records are seen only by the people who run Meal Funnel.
Cookies
Meal Funnel uses only the cookies it needs to work: one that keeps you signed in during a visit, and one that protects forms against cross-site request forgery. We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. If you close an announcement at the top of the page, your browser remembers that so it stays closed.
How we use information
- To run Meal Funnel: storing your recipes and meal plans and showing them to your family.
- To send the emails you ask for (shared recipes and family invitations) and security alerts about your account.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse (for example, limiting how many recipes can be shared per hour) and fix problems.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who we share information with
- Your family. Members of your family in Meal Funnel can see and change your family's recipes and meal plan.
- People you share recipes with. Anyone who has a recipe's share link can view that recipe without signing in, so only send links to people you want to see it. A Meal Funnel user who receives a link can save their own copy.
- Amazon (Alexa). Only if you link Alexa: Amazon passes your spoken requests to Meal Funnel and reads our answers aloud, which can include items on your shopping list and meal plan.
- Service providers. Bluehost hosts Meal Funnel, its database and its email. PayPal processes subscription payments. When your family subscribes, PayPal handles your payment details under its own privacy statement. We receive only the subscription's ID, its status and its renewal dates, never your card or bank details. Page styling and script files are loaded from the jsDelivr content network, which receives your IP address and browser information when a page loads.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
- If the service changes hands, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete a recipe, its ingredients, photo and share links are deleted too. Copies may remain in backups for a limited time. Copies that other families saved from a link you shared belong to them and aren't removed when you delete your recipe.
Your choices
- You can view, edit and delete your recipes and meal plans in Meal Funnel at any time.
- To get a copy of your information, correct your account details, or delete your account, email sales@custom-ds.com.
Security
Meal Funnel is served only over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, stores passwords in hashed form, and limits each family's data to that family. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.
Children
Meal Funnel accounts are meant for adults managing their household. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Where information is stored
Meal Funnel is hosted in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date above. If a change significantly affects how your information is used, we'll let you know by email or in Meal Funnel.
